Lives and works in Austin

My interests are rooted in the immediate act of drawing and investigations into the sublime. These drawings are images that utilize and indicate real and imagined “landscapes”. Marks, movement and erasures accumulate to form and abstract a place; locating it along a time-line that is set up by the power, mystery and crescendo of a natural event. The physicality and touch of my abbreviated mark-making process itself becomes the activating agent within the drawings. It is the source of a sense of time and flux, as if the drawing is caught in a moment of continual change. These drawings are intended to defy expectations, seduce the viewer and investigate the validity and need for sublime images. I want to arrive at a correlation between the way a mark is delivered and the manner in which the forces of nature act upon each other; in its speed, density, texture and breadth.
